Wool is cool – closer look at BAABUK

In the pre-Xmas time, danger of spending too much on too useless things hangs upon us. So in the upcoming articles we look into the LOCAL labels and brands that we think are worth your time and money. One of these is BAABUK, a shoe wear brand born is Switzerland, in the lovely city of Lausanne. Galina and Dan founded BAABUK back in 2013 out of their passion for creation and dream to build a brand which offers products that combine tradition and modernity with originality and trends. Their story began when Galina's parents who returned from Russia, offered as a — read more

Kidney beans biscuits recipe

These were called kidney beans ball! I have no clue who gave this dish such an unsuitable name!  These were supposed to replace meatballs dishes, but to me these look more like puff pastry replacements. So here we go with my vegetarian meatballs replacement dish which turned out to be something else than what I wanted, but still yummy all the same! Biscuits! I love beans but I am pretty bored of just using them plain in salads or various cooked dishes and sauces and I feel kidney beans are the best consumed in winter. I try to eat as — read more

Museums in Lausanne

I usually travel a lot, either for work when I visit our office in Romania, or just for pleasure, and I get to see a lot of museums. And after living in Lausanne for almost 10 years now, I still haven't seen all the museums and I feel I've ignored this part of my town a bit. So here I am revisiting museums in my town as well, and I am here to introduce you to the first two on my list. Actually one of them was a first time visit, so I am pretty happy to show you — read more

My favourite fall recipes

I have recently spent almost a month in the US and Canada and have been really surprised by the amount of waste and the amount of meat that you can find in all restaurants. I find this a huge problem and I really hope we can do something to change things. As a dear person to me suggested, restaurants should at least start to propose the same amount of vegetarian options as omnivore ones and should do them well. I am sick of only finding lame salads on the menu or even worse, really tasteless pasta. So once I — read more

Artishow Lausanne

There is a new bar in town! Oh yeah and we are happy! And this one has the potential of becoming one of my go-to places! I have already been once and forgot to leave and go home, so I am on a pretty good roll. I don't spend so much time in Lausanne and when I do, I don't want it to end. I get to discover new places, meet new cool people in town and enjoy the city in a different way, other than just work and business. Plenty of good options for that as well. And the best — read more

The Most Beautiful Street in Canada

I have been invited to a wedding in Pennsylvania this autumn and I decided to just make a vacation out of this occasion and spend more time in the States. This being said, I planned for a 10-day holiday with part of these days dedicated for the wedding location and a couple of well-spent days in New York to relax after the wedding; but things did not go as planned when our holidays turned into an almost full month of travelling! And has crossed borders into Canada as well! Pretty crazy if you ask me, but boy these places — read more

Is online shopping addictive?

I have a friend who buys something new every week. She mostly buys accessories because she feels she can always do something new and crazy with her outfits. She has her own style, going somewhat into a retro mixed with a modern look, which suits her very well. But I asked her one day: why this need to always buy a new item when she already has so many? Does she use them all? And her answer was: what can I say? I am addicted! Since then I have always asked myself if online shopping is indeed addictive — read more

No to Getting Old?

Lately I have had a few weird thoughts. I have been doing my makeup to go out in front of the window when the sun was high up on the sky already and I got to see more than I probably should have. I could see the years going by on my face; slightly, slightly but still noticeable. Fine wrinkles around the eyes and some deeper expression ones, but there they were. I must say there were a few moments of complete panic over the next days. Every time I looked in a mirror I could only see wrinkles, — read more

In the music studio with Sei Yun

I first saw Sei-Yun during a shoot we have prepared in collaboration with a make-up artist in Geneva. She was a model and shot for a campaign for one of our designer friends from Switzerland. She was wearing minimalistic make-up and clothes and had to pose in strange positions that seemed almost broken. She looked beautiful, she was extremely professional, and even though the shoot lasted a good day, she has never complained, always did her job perfectly and the results in the end were excellent. Since then, I have followed her career closely, and I have met her — read more

Are you shopping online or offline?

Are online concept stores for you? I just overheard a discussion while doing my groceries, between two friends in their 20s. One of them had her mind set on an awesome scarf she has seen online and the other friend could not understand how her friend could make such a passion for something she saw in a picture. The discussion lasted for a while and while I finished my groceries and headed to the till, I found them again, still debating the same subject. I am not sure what they spoke about and what exactly they have debated, but both sounded — read more

Summer In The City

It's not New York, but it's a city we all love. Especially during summer. But what is there to do in summer, you might ask? What happens to all people who cannot take holidays during summer, like me, and still want to feel like on holidays when they escape work, potentially earlier on a Friday evening. Apart from exploring the awesome city during summer, taking long walks during summer, hopping from terrace to terrace or just eating a gelato and exploring the beautiful architecture of the city, there is plenty more to do. I love Lausanne during summer, I love — read more

My mind is on constant summer and holiday mood. I am planning my winter holiday already and this year it will be Thailand. Everyday swimwear

I must tell you guys this spring is the season of challenges. First of all my team is stuck on me becoming an ice cream lover! As you probably know, and if you don't, I tell you now, I do not like ice cream, I don't understand its purpose and I probably eat one ice cream per year. The story goes like this, you eat ice cream when it's hot to refresh yourself, but then you are thirsty after because it's too sweet. So what's the point? I have to try 5 different ice cream places and then decide — read more
